In this blog, we&#8217;ll demonstrate how a PFD can make a difference to the future of your business.     <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a PFD?  <\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A PFD, also known as a <strong>process flow diagram<\/strong> and not to be confused with a PDF. A process flow diagram is a <strong>schematic presentation <\/strong>of the <strong>main parts <\/strong>of a factory building. All piping, equipment and the various components needed to accomplish your manufacturing process are present.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We use a PFD as the <strong>basis<\/strong> for all subsequent steps of your future factory building. In addition, it lends itself to drafting <strong>control strategies<\/strong> and creating a <strong>detailed quotation<\/strong>. Formatting a process flow diagram correctly can prevent a lot of mistakes. In fact, an error in the PFD can prevent the production design from being fully operational.     <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the benefits of a process flow diagram?  <\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A PFD brings <strong>several benefits <\/strong>. For example, you create a visual diagram of your production process and your plant, it allows you to improve your processes, serves as a basic design that all parties involved can work with, and can identify potential problems.   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Visual schematic<\/strong> <br\/>With your PFD, you have your <strong>basic design<\/strong> in your pocket. Moreover, it is a <strong>handy tool<\/strong> that covers all the accessories of your future plant. From the smallest screw to the largest motor. No part goes unmentioned. <br\/>In addition, you can use your process flow diagram as a <strong>communication tool<\/strong>. The different parties can use it and get a clear picture of what is expected. This way, you avoid ambiguities and misunderstandings.       <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Process optimization<\/strong> <br\/>You obviously want your new plant to be at least as efficient as the previous one. And preferably a little more. We can&#8217;t blame you for that. After all, the <strong>profitability<\/strong> of your plant largely determines your profit margin. The easier you can <strong>operate, adjust and control<\/strong> your processes, the better for your portfolio.      <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Design of operating systems<\/strong> <br\/>Your PFD can also help determine how your operating systems will function. This can help you <strong>avoid<\/strong> a lot of <strong>unnecessary work<\/strong>.   <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Problem Indicator <\/strong> <br\/>Inefficiencies are like the plague to a production process. By mapping the process down to the smallest details, any <strong>bottlenecks<\/strong> can be identified. This gives you the opportunity to eliminate these bottlenecks even before the foundation stone of your plant is laid.    <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In short, a process flow diagram <strong>can really make a difference<\/strong> to your <a href=\"https:\/\/meyland.be\/en\/5-tips-to-increase-the-productivity-of-your-production-process\/\">productivity<\/a>. It allows you to set up a true <strong>process automation<\/strong> that allows you to run your operations in <strong>less time<\/strong>, with <strong>fewer actions<\/strong> and a <strong>lower error rate<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who prepares such a PFD?  <\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are <strong>several options<\/strong> at Meyland. Once we get a view of the final version, it&#8217;s time to work on the <strong>3D designs<\/strong> of your plant. This is also where we start mapping the missing links between different production parts. Think about conveyor belts or screws. Your 3D design contains all the details of your PFD as well as all the necessary connections. With minimal effort, it is very easy to select which product should be manufactured via a particular production line. Different product recipes are linked to the PLCs in the factory.
